Paddy entered Kenyan politics in 1997, competing avidly against Ollo Tula for the Kasipul Kabondo seat but failing to win. He ran for this position again in 2002 but lost to Peter Owidi. However, when Peter Owidi died in 2005, Paddy seized the chance to win the parliamentary seat by-election on behalf of his party, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). On March 1, 2006, he took this seat. During his election in 2005, he defeated Gerald Otieno K’Opiyo.

However, he only held this Parliamentary constituency as an MP from 2006 to 2007. When the election was held again in 2007, Paddy sought to win again but was defeated by Jospeh Oyugi Magwanga. Mr. Paddy then campaigned for ODM leader Raila Odinga in the years that followed. During Raila Odinga’s presidential campaign, he served him.

It was in the year 2018 when he was appointed as Kenya’s Ambassador to Qatar. President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him as Ambassador in August 2018. However, there were speculations in February 2019 that Qatar had rejected Ahenda as the leader of the Ambassador Ship, although Qatar officials subsequently denied any charges relating to this. He had been serving as Kenya’s Ambassador in Qatar since 2019, and he died while doing so.
