Beckett O’Brien’s father Conan Christopher O’Brien born April 18, 1963, is an American television host, comedian, author, and producer who has spent nearly 28 years hosting the Late-Night talk shows, beginning with Late Night with Conan O’Brien (1993–2009) and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (2009–2010) on the NBC TV network.

Before his career as a presenter, Conan O’Brien was a writer for Saturday Live (1988–1991) and The Simpsons (1991–1993). He’s also been hosting the podcast series Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend since 2018 and is set to launch his new show on HBO Max.

Known for his improvisational moderation style, described by The New York Times as “awkward, self-deprecating humor,” Conan O’Brien’s late-night show combines “the lewd and quirky with more elegant, narrative shorts.” His segment off his studio called “Remotes” is also one of his best-received works, including the international travel series Conan Without Borders.

With the retirement of David Letterman on May 20, 2015, Conan O’Brien became the longest host of the late-night talk show in the United States. This brisk streak ended with O’Brien’s retirement from late-night TV in June 2021, with his entire streak as a late-night host spanning nearly 28 years. Conan O’Brien was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential in 2010.

Conna O’Brien met his wife Liza Powell when she appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 2000, in commercial kits including Hilton Furniture and Foot, Cohn & Belding, and worked as an executive copywriter. The couple dated almost 18 months before their 2002 wedding in Powell’s hometown of Seattle.

On June 12, 2011, Conan O’Brien was awarded an honorary doctorate from Dartmouth College. In addition to awarding him an honorary doctorate, he delivered the inaugural address. On October 21, 2011, Conan O’Brien announced that he has been ordained as a minister of the Universal Life Monastery and which allows him to perform same-sex marriage while he was back in New York, one of the few states in the United States that gay marriage was legal to record a week’s worth of shows.
