Sarah Sands was born in Cambridge in 1961 to parents who worked in the foreign civil service. Kit Hesketh-Harvey, of the musical duo Kit and The Widow, is Sands’ younger sister. She is also a playwright, her play “Ether Dome” premiered at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 2007 and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. She has also written a novel called “The Last Seance” which was published in 2016.
