Thuggin’ Under the Influence (T.U.I.), the debut album by Jeezy as Lil J, was released in 2001. Since then, Jeezy has recorded 10 studio albums with multiple major songs, including the number-one single “Soul Survivor” with Akon and the top 40 singles “I Luv It,” “Go Getta,” and “Put On” with Kanye West.

Jeezy has also been on a number of hip-hop and R&B smash singles, including “Say I” by Christina Milian, “I’m So Paid” by Akon, “Hard” by Rihanna, and “Love in This Club” by Usher, the latter of which peaked at number one on the 2008 US Billboard Hot 100.

In addition to his solo career, Jeezy is a former member of the rap duo Boyz n da Hood from Bad Boy Records and the de facto head of the Southern hip-hop collective United Streets Dopeboyz of America (U.S.D.A.).

Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, his first album on a major label since signing with Def Jam Recordings in 2004, debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after selling 172,000 copies in its first week.

Jeezy, along with T.I. and Gucci Mane, two other rappers from Georgia, are recognized for their contributions to the development and acceptance of trap music among the general public.

Jeezy was detained on August 24, 2014, before taking the stage at the Under The Influence Tour stop in Irvine, California, in relation to the fatal shooting that had taken place two days earlier in the backstage area of a different stop on the tour in Mountain View, California.

On August 26, Jeezy and the other five males who were detained with him entered not-guilty pleas to assault weapon possession charges. After two days, Jeezy and his friends bonded out.

Officers allegedly received numerous claims that the tour security chief, who was sick at the time, was the AK-47’s registered owner.
