Itchy Boots began her travel career at the age of 23. In fact, she gave up her Ph.D. to travel to different countries around the world. She spent some time in Indonesia after visiting Australia, New Zealand, and India.

She returned to Australia and worked as an exploratory geologist in Perth for about six months because she wasn’t making any money. She backpacked around South East Asia, South America, Central America, and East Africa in two years after saving enough money.

She eventually returned to the Netherlands, where she obtained a full-time job with an international dredging firm. She spent the following several years working for the same company in numerous places. Despite her ability to work and live in various countries, she was dissatisfied. As a result, she quit her job, sold her house, sold her first motorcycle, and came to India in July 2018.

She started Itchy Boots, a travel blog, with the goal of making a living while traveling full-time. She rented a Royal Enfield Himalayan BS3 while traveling across South Asia, rode across these countries, and documented her adventures on her blog.

She purchased a GoPro and started a YouTube channel to capture her travels after purchasing a Royal Enfield Himalayan. She continued to share moto vlogging videos and eventually drove 36 kilometers across 25 countries in eight months.

It only took a few months for her channel to take off because she published high-quality movies, and she garnered nearly 300,000 subscribers in a year of sharing videos. She eventually hit the million subscriber mark in early 2022. The channel currently has over 1.54 million subscribers and 307 million total video views.
