Devin Devolis Hester Sr. born November 4, 1982, is an American former football player who was a wide receiver and return specialist in the National Football League (NFL). Widely regarded as a specialist with the greatest returns in NFL history, he was the first and only player to return his kick in the opening of the Super Bowl with a touchdown.

Devin Hester was selected by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football in Miami, becoming the first American player in the college’s recent history to play in all three phases of football, (Offense, defense, and special teams).

In addition to Chicago, Devin Hester also played for Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, and Seattle Seahawks during his 11-year NFL career.

Drafted as a cornerback, Devin Hester quickly established himself as a kick returner and later became a wide receiver. He holds the NFL record for most returns touchdowns (punts and kickoffs combined) and the all-time number of most punts returns touchdowns.

Devin Hester was born in Riviera Beach, Florida to Juanita Brown and Lenoris Hester Sr. His parents separated when he was still an infant. Before he was a teenager, his mother was seriously injured in a car accident, and his father died of cancer two years later.

His father-in-law Derrick Brown and his brother Lenoris Jr. helped Devin Hester come out of depression and rebuild his life by introducing him to football. He quickly returned to normal life and excelled in sports and science.
