Lansbury married twice, first to actor Richard Cromwell and later to actor-producer Peter Shaw. As a consequence, she had two children. Anthony Peter, 70, and Deirdre Ann, 69, are her two children (b. 1953). Angela also became the stepmother to Peter’s first married son David. While Angela stated that she wanted to prioritize her children above her job, she acknowledged routinely leaving them in California for extended periods of time while she was working.

Angela and Richard married in September 1945 in a tiny civil wedding when Angela was 19 and Richard were 35. They divorced in 1946 but remained friends until Richard’s death in 1960. Angela married Peter Shaw in 1949 and they were married for 54 years until his death in 2003. Peter was also her coworker. She and he co-owned Corymore Productions, and she took over ownership of her show Murder, She Wrote and served as Executive Producer for the remaining four seasons.
